Pure high current DC power means that the music is completely isolated from AC mains. No power line noise, distortion or RF. Current pulses from rectification are avoided. The result: improved sound quality. Larger, deeper soundstage, more transparent highs, and tighter, more controlled bass-especially noticeable with full-range speakers. The DC12 provides over 12 hours of uninterrupted pure DC play. Four battery groups provide isolated power to each channel, creating a true balanced supply. Operation and charging are simple and worry free. When the batteries have become depleted, charging begins automatically. The OM1 is fully operational even while charging. 33 pounds of lead and steel act as both damping mass and effective RF and electromagnetic shield, enhancing the operation of the OM1. Note that unlike some battery driven designs, the OM1 contains ultra-low impedance high current regulation within an inch of the star ground point. In other designs, impedance in the wiring connecting the batteries to the preamp circuit can offset much of the benefit of DC power. In the OM1 all the benefits are retained. |
